Spiders and Pest Control
Megan Pinneo
Black Knight Pest Control often deals with common house spiders while on a routine job, but as a pest control company we get our fair share of “not so usual” pests. Frequently encountered spiders on the job are; daddy long legs, brown and black widows, the brown recluse, and the tiny cruiser type spiders. Spiders can be considered an important, even beneficial link in the food change because they pray on other insects. While they can be beneficial it doesn’t mean you want them lurking around your home, where your children play, and where you go to relax. Not to mention that spiderwebs can be unsightly in an otherwise neatly kept home. So what other types of spiders can Black Knight Pest Control help protect and prevent against with Spider Defense Service? How about, Wolf Spiders. Have you ever seen one before? They can be very intimidating, but not to Black Knight’s experienced technicians.
Our experienced Pest Control Technicians never really know what they will come across when it comes to pests on a job. Each time they set foot onto a property anything could happen. A routine treatment could call for some unexpected pests. Take a recent job that our technician Steven serviced. While walking a regular property on his route in Temecula, he came across a rather large Wolf Spider. Because of his years of experience in pest control he knew just what type of spider it was. The fact that Steven was able to identify the spider allowed him to tend to the situation rationally. Even though the Wolf Spider can look awfully intimidating, with its eight long hairy legs, grayish-brown coloring with light stripes, and two horizontal sharp fangs, they are usually non-aggressive to humans. Wolf Spiders get their name from the way that they stalk and hunt their pray like wolves do. They are fast moving ground hunters. Being adaptable to various habitats they can be found almost anywhere. Therefore, your home in Riverside or San Diego County could very well have a Wolf Spider roaming around somewhere. Do you think you will take be able to get rid of it on your own? Or will you turn and scurry away in fear? Wolf Spiders are fast runners, that pounce on their pray, and bite into them with their strong jaw. Still think you can face them on your own?
Above is the Wolf Spider that Steven had the pleasure of meeting while serving a customer.
