What to do if you have a Rodent Problem in your home
Besides calling a licensed Pest Control Professional there are some DIY methods that you can try to get rid of rodents infesting the home. It is important that you know, rats are difficult pests to get rid of on your own and can carry various diseases. If the infestation seems to be out of control call an exterminator right away.
How to get rid of Rodents
The obvious would be to start by setting out mouse traps around the house. If you have small children or pets place the throughout the home with caution. Place in areas such as back of pantry cabinets and behind furniture.
Eliminate all entry points. Stop them from coming indoors by taking a look around the house for any holes (small as a quarter) or tears in screens. Also check for cracks and open seals. When sealing entry points keep in mind that rodents have extremely strong teeth and can chew through most materials.
Install metal mesh screening on vents.
Keep it clean! The more clutter and poor sanitation the higher chance you have of attracting rodents. Vacuum often, wipe down counter tops, throw out trash daily, seal food in air tight containers when possible, are just a few ways to tidy up in rodent prevention.
Bait stations. These are effective yet are better handled by a professional to insure the safety of little ones and your pets.
Protect your home from the outside. Trim back any branches from surrounding trees that are hanging onto the roof. Keep bushes off the walls of the house. Free your yard of clutter so that if there is a rodent infestation happening it is easier to spot them.
Tree wraps are a good way to keep rodents from crawling up a tree then jumping or climbing onto your roof. Tree wrap service is one service that is provided by Black Knight Pest Control.
