EXCESS VEGETATION -
As greenery rots it attracts termites. Clear dead trees, bushes and stumps from surrounding area.
WOOD PILES -
Any wood piles can draw in termites. After feeding on piles of wood close by termites will then migrate to your home. Keep wood at least 20 feet away from your home, and never lay it directly on the ground. Allow at least 5 inches of clearance from ground surface.
BRANCHES ON ROOFS -
Tree branches touching the rooftop are not only a pathway for Termites, but most all other pests. Rodents gain easy access from hanging branches. Trim back any branches left hanging onto the roof or along any part of a structure. Shrubs and branches in contact with a structure are notorious for giving easy access to pests.
GUTTER BUILD UP -
Clogged gutters gather excess moisture and can soften or rot roofs. Termites will penetrate your home through these soft spots. Clean rain gutters regularly to help avoid this termite problem. Watch for rotten wood, replace any you find.
MULCH -
Scattered wood chips retain moisture impart attracting termites. The moist wood chips are an attractive food source, largely for dampwood termites. Keep mulch a distance away from your home to help avoid a problem from stemming, 15 inches will suffice. Check for excess moisture, and sitting water.
