Top Animals That Aid In Controlling Unwanted Pests

Pest Control in its most natural state.

There are some animals that aid in pest prevention, find out what animals those are.

There are some animals you may not want to clear away so quickly if you have a pest infestation manifesting around your home.

What animals are best at pest prevention?

Cats, dogs, snakes, owls, lizards, even possums to name a few.

Dogs-

Did you know dogs can actually sniff out bed bugs, and termites! Suddenly your child asking for a new puppy doesn’t seem like such a bad idea after all. Even though certain animals can help provide some kind of control over the pest population they cannot fully prevent all pests from infesting, and for that there is Black Knight Termite and Pest Control.

Cats-

We are all aware of the “gifts” (animals they have captured) our feline friends will bring to our door. Praying on rodents like; mice, rats, and gophers they can help control these unwanted pests. Cats are considered pretty low maintenance pets, making them a great addition to the family, all while helping prevent pests. Hopefully, they just don’t make their next victim a chew toy in the middle of your living room. If there is a barn on your property having an outdoor cat can help keep the rodents at bay.

Snakes-

Small mammals make up a large amount of a snakes diet. Snakes feed on rats, mice, rabbits, among other small rodents. You may not want to have a snake as a pet crawling around your property, but if you see one slither across your lawn know that they may have just helped to prevent a rat from entering your home.

Lizards-

Having lizards around your yard can be a useful way of bug control. Just be sure that you don’t let them get into your home.

Possums -

If the possum population is not high itself their diet of cockroaches, mice, rats, snails, and other garden pests can be helpful on a property. You may not even notice that you have them around your home since they are a nocturnal creature.

Conclusion for Animals and Pest Control

There are plenty of animals in nature that can be your own personal pest control team, free of charge, as long as they stay under control themselves. If you have a pest problem that seems to be escalating calling a professional is the smart thing to do. While natures ecosystem is extraordinary, it’s not always the preferred method in pest control. For experienced pest professionals in termite control, rodent exclusions, gopher defense, general pest control, and more there is your local Black Knight Pest Control Team.

TIP: For all wild animals, and pests it is important to keep all doors shut as much as possible, garage doors included, and don’t forget the shed. This will help keep pests from crawling indoors. Checking for ripped, and broken screens is a simple home maintenance task that will keep unwanted critters out. One of the most important rodent control tips is to clear any hanging branches from the roof, this avoids easy access for rats and mice, among others. Keeping a tidy home, and eliminating any clutter reduces places for pests to hide, feed, and mate.
