Drywood termites are social insects that live in colonies in sound, dry wood.
Each colony consists of offspring from the original pair (male and female). There are three growth stages – eggs, immatures and adults. Drywood termites are larger than local, southwestern subterranean species. These pests live inside the wood that makes up the structures of a home, but also wood paneling, furniture, beams and other wood products. Telltale signs of an infection include granular fecal pellets, elongated shed wings, wood that produces a hollow sound or crumbles when pounded on.
